K

-pop fans are in for a treat as Spotify will host a special ‘Kilas Balik K-pop’, a flashback event celebrating fans’ favorite music and artists this weekend at the Central Park shopping mall in West Jakarta.

The event, to be held from Dec 20 to 22, will feature K-pop music video sets including BTS’s “Boy With Luv”, BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love”, Stray Kids’ “Side Effects” and (G)I-DLE’s “Uh Oh”, where fans can explore, take photos or videos and lip-sync or dance to their favorite tracks.

Earlier this month, Spotify released its annual Wrapped list, compiling 2019’s most-streamed artists and tracks by its 248 million users worldwide.

BTS’s “Boy With Luv” was the most-streamed K-pop track with a total of 3 billion streams globally. The award-winning boyband, alongside girl band BLACKPINK was also listed as one of Indonesia’s most-streamed groups this year.

“In Southeast Asia, we wanted to create a Wrapped campaign that highlights country-specific data stories that have shaped the region’s culture. We know Indonesia music-fans love K-pop -- the most-streamed artist in Indonesia this year was BTS and most-streamed groups were BTS and BLACKPINK,” said Jan-Paul Jeffrey, head of marketing Spotify, Southeast Asia, in a statement.

Aside from the music video sets, fans will also be invited to look back on the K-pop industry’s achievements over the past decade and learn about the newest sensations, such as boybands ATEEZ and Tomorrow x Together (TXT).

To attend, fans have to access the “Wrapped” feature on Spotify and post it online with the hashtag #SpotifyWrapped. (vel/kes)
