According to The Verge, Instagram had been testing the new feature since January, and now has finally decided to release it globally, including for Indonesian users.
Web DMs will especially benefit popular users who probably have to monitor and respond to hundreds of messages on a daily basis, and chatting away using a laptop keyboard instead of the one on your phone screen is definitely more convenient as well.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, which owns Instagram, has previously mentioned his vision to enable users of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram to send message to each other regardless their platform. (kes)
