ctress Ramadhania Ardiansyah Bakrie, popularly known as Nia Ramadhani, and her husband Ardi Bakrie have been named suspects in an illegal drug use case.
They were arrested by the Central Jakarta Police’s drug detective unit on Wednesday. The police also arrested their personal driver and named him a suspect.
“It is true that there was an arrest in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran, [South Jakarta]. Three people were arrested,” Jakarta Police public relations head Yusri Yunus said in a press conference on Thursday. He said the three people were Nia Ramadhani, her husband Ardi Bakrie and their personal driver and assistant, kompas.com reported.
He also added that police had confiscated 0.78 grams of methamphetamine and a water pipe. The meth was found on the driver during the search.
"The result of the search found that the water pipe was [Nia’s],” Yusri said, according to CNN Indonesia. “She admitted that her husband also used it. They have been using methamphetamine together.”
The police claimed the suspects said they had been using the drug for the past four to five months. All three of the suspects’ urine tests were positive for methamphetamine.
Nia Ramadhani is known for her extensive roles in Indonesian soap operas, such as Bawang Merah Bawang Putih (2004), and several movies, including Kesurupan (2009).
She was married on April 1, 2010, to Anindra Ardiansyah Bakrie, or Ardi Bakrie, son of accomplished businessman Aburizal Bakrie, on April 1, 2010. They have had three children together.
A number of Bakrie group companies that Ardi chaired have seen their shares weaken since the news of the couple’s arrest, CNN Indonesia reported. One of which was PT Visi Media Asia Tbk (VIVA), which had fallen 3.51 percent by the close of Thursday’s first trading session.
