JAKARTA: An acacia tree fell on two young women who were riding a motorcycle along Jl. Pangkalan Jati in Cinere, South Jakarta, on Sunday.

The women -- Novita, 18, and Putri, 18 -- were trapped under the tree for 10 minutes before South Jakarta firefighters and residents cut them out.

The two women suffered minor injuries to their hands and legs, Detik.com reported.

The large tree fell at 3 p.m. due to heavy rain.

The fallen tree blocked the road, forcing motorists to divert to Jl. Rawa Kopi. -- JP
