JAKARTA: After just three sessions in a courtroom over three weeks, pop singer Rossa is now officially single again.
On Tuesday, the South Jakarta Religious Court settled her divorce from Yoyo, the drummer of pop band Padi.
Rossa was granted custody of their child.
“[The divorce process] was quick because everybody wanted it that way,” says Rossa’s lawyer Hendra Siregar.
The judges’ other consideration, he adds, was that “both Yoyo’s and Rossa’s families supported the divorce.”
According to Hendra, Rossa was grateful that she was granted custody of the couple’s four-year-old son, Rizki Langit Ramadhan.
“Although custody of the child was granted to Rossa, she will let Yoyo meet up with his son whenever he wants,” says Hendra.
“She will never limit Yoyo’s rights as a father.”
Neither Yoyo nor Rossa attended Tuesday’s hearing.
Rossa, now 30, married Yoyo, 33, in March 2004. They held a large and lavish wedding ceremony in Sumedang, West Java, where Rossa was born.
Rossa filed for divorce in June 2009, two years after the couple reconciled following Yoyo’s reported affair with a model. — JP
