Choky ready to be a singer

JP/TRIWIK

JAKARTA: Choky Sitohang left his journalist career to become a TV presenter. And now that he made it to the top, he’s eyeing another fancy profession: Singing.

Choky, who just won the 2010 Panasonic Gobel Awards for the most favorite game show/quiz presenter, said he had long dreamed of becoming a professional crooner.

“Someday, I’ll be on the stage singing,” said the 28-year-old fashionable hunk, who has recently been hosting Take Me/Him Out Indonesia and Happy Song. “That’s the next dream I want to achieve,” he added.

Choky said his friends had long supported his dream, saying he had a fine vocal color and that he should try his luck singing.

“When I started to sing since four years ago, a producer noticed my talent,” said the former journalist with Lativi [now TvOne]. “He offered to help me release an album.”

Choky said he was aware that some people would label him an opportunist for wanting to try everything he could while he was still on top of his game.

“People might say that I’m taking advantage of my current popularity, but I’m fine with that,” he said. “The most important thing for me is to prove I have some qualities to offer.”

And with the recent award he had received, Choky said he at least had proved he had some talent.
“I used to dream of getting up on stage to receive an award — and it finally came true,” he said.

“Therefore I want to thank my fans for their ongoing trust in me,” he added. — JP
