Jakarta: Singer Sandhy Sondoro flew to Los Angeles, US, on Monday, to sing one of American multi-award musician Diane Warren’s songs on a US TV station.

Warren, who performed at the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival in March, invited Sandhy – also present at the festival – to appear on a PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) TV program.

“[I was] shocked. Really pleased. There, I will perform Diane Warren’s song – Time, Love and Tenderness – made popular by Michael Bolton. I will sing the song giving it my own touch,” he said as quoted by kapanlagi.com.

Sandhy, who came fifth in a German talent show, said he would sing Time, Love and Tenderness in a typically Indonesian way, which he described as polite and friendly.

Before he shot to fame, Sandhy went to Germany to study architecture after he graduated from high school in Jakarta. He used to busk in the streets of Berlin.  — JP
