any professionals are afraid of making speeches in public. A study conducted in the US involving 10,000 managers discovered that 32 percent found the thought of making a public speech daunting.

Furthermore, the study found that fear of public speaking exceeded the fear of financial difficulties, obesity or even death. In other words, one-third of them would rather die than be forced to speak in public!

Indeed, delivering a speech or making a presentation is not easy because it is not the same as merely talking to someone. However, many people believe that one can learn to make a presentation.

Nowadays, there are many gadgets that can assist a person make a good presentation, and they can at least boost confidence and reduce nervousness.

Developments in presentation equipment have not been as rapid as the developments in cell phones, for example. However, to a certain extent, technologically there have been some innovations along with the requirement in the business and education sectors.

Previously, an overhead projector was enough for a presentation, but today digital technology is used to connect a PC or notebook directly to a projector instead of using transparencies like overhead projectors.

Today, the art of presentation has developed further with products using digital technology. Infocus, for example, was the first brand to enter the digital presentation era. That is why many people use the brand’s name as a generic term, infocus.

Janto Susanto, the director of PT Triyaso Telekomindo’s director, the authorized distributor of Infocus Indonesia, said that next to businesses, education institutions also used projectors, as did individuals who have notebooks.

Now, even without a notebook one can use a projector via a flash disk, which means the market has expanded further. “The price has become more affordable,” Janto told Media Indonesia.

Data compiled by Pacific Media Associates indicates there is a demand for 100,000 projectors in
Indonesia every year, with businesses accounting for 80 percent of the demand.

Developments in projectors have evolved in two ways, namely in design and in technology. Each type fulfills a specific functional requirement of a market segment, such as mobile meetings, small office space, large conference halls and even for home theaters.

The design has become simpler but is highly attractive with the obvious plus point of being a reliable presentation gadget. Using the latest technology, Infocus can produce panoramic pictures on a large screen.

This is made possible by using a number of projectors simultaneously with USB or even wireless connection. A PC or notebook is no longer required to run a modern projector. Infocus technology, called litepori, stores a presentation in the USB memory and can be presented directly through the projector.

Another brand, Averepack, also uses similar technology.

Overhead projectors are usually bulky and have to be connected to a PC, but using eFlash makes presentations easy. It has a small design and can be easily connected to a projector or a TV. To operate, there is a remote control that is integrated with a laser point.

The presentation file can be kept in SD or MMC memory card, so a PC is no longer needed. The gadget has the capabilities of auto slide show and zooming. So you see, presentation projectors are also becoming more progressive along with the times.
