AKARTA: Indonesia's largest automotive distributor, Astra Internasional, will produce an additional 100,000 Daihatsu vehicles this year to maintain its 55 percent share in the domestic automotive market, the company's senior vice president, Arief Istanto, says.
Arief said Astra would need up to Rp 3 trillion (about US$336 million) to support the plan. Astra's total car sales including Daihatsu vehicles reached 370,000 units in the first half of 2010.
Arief said Astra was upbeat it could achieve its sales target of 700,000 units, this year.
Astra booked Rp 6.4 trillion in net profits in the first half, up 52 percent from Rp 4.2 trillion over the same period last year. - JP
