ctress Ria Irawan, 41, a member of the jury in the talent show Indonesia’s Got Talent and soon to be seen in the movie Madame X, spends her weekends at home playing games on the Internet. For her, crowded shopping malls on the weekend are a no-go zone.

I’m now addicted to online games, especially those on Facebook. I can play games all day long. I opt for playing games instead of hanging out in a packed mall.

I usually go home after work at around midnight, or even early in the morning, then I turn on my computer and play games for a while before falling asleep. I normally wake up at noon and I will play games again. Games are the best.

My mother (veteran actress Ade Irawan) also finds playing online games exciting. I guess she’s become addicted to them, too, even though she’s quite new to the world of Internet. I’ve already told her that the Internet is not only about games, telling her how to open news portals and send emails.

Mom, you can also read news about me on the Internet in just one click, I once said to her. But all she ever wants to do is play online games.

If I’m not playing games, I may go shopping. One thing is for sure, I do not go on weekends because malls are normally so crowded at that time. I don’t like being in crowds. It can bring on a headache.

I spend most of my free time on games as a form of “payback”, because when I was a child I did not have any opportunity to play them because of my tight schedule as an actress.

My mom never bought me that kind of stuff. That’s a pity, isn’t it? So what did I do during weekends or school holidays? I was a busy little girl, filming this or that movie.

School holidays were the saddest time for me. While other kids were happy to go to out of town to visit their grandmas, I was spending my holidays on film set, playing in children’s flicks. I could burst into tears just hearing my schoolmates making holiday plans.

When it came to holidays, the only question that popped in my mom’s mind was, “Are there any children’s movies being produced this holiday?” Yes, she was busy finding children’s movies for me.

In those days, filmmakers usually made children’s films during the school holidays. It was the best time for mothers of young actresses to showcase their daughters.

Once my mother was offered a film, she would always check out the movie, from the storyboard, the cast and director, to the fee, before she decided to accept it. So right now, I am trying to have fun and compensating for those missing holidays by playing online games.

Traveling? Well, I’ve already traveled around the world since I was 15, when I received a scholarship to Paris, France. I’ve been to every continent.

Saudi Arabia’s Mecca was my most recent destination, when I visited the city for the haj. However, I still want to travel more, going to places I’ve never been to.

I choose to go on vacation when school is in session because the tickets are normally cheaper than during school holidays.

I’m kind of an expert when it comes to finding cheap tickets. Maybe one day I can establish my own travel agency with my own airline called Nawari Air, which is my name spelt backwards.

I’m a spontaneous person. If I want to go somewhere, I just go. You know, I’m a great career planner, but it seems like my plans never go well when it comes to vacations.

Recently, I was traveling back and forth to Kuala Lumpur to teach acting. During my spare time, I tried to find tickets to visit places nearby.
