en Joshua is familiar face in many made-for-TV films. After gaining public affection for his roles in teen flicks Dealova and Cinta Pertama (First Love), he later played in popular horror movies, and more recently, the former media relations officer appeared in Khalifah, a film about life in a pesantren (Islamic boarding school).
In his spare time he prefers to spend time with his wife outside Jakarta to allow their personal moments away from the hustle and bustle of the capital.
My typical Sunday always starts by going to church with my family. After that, we usually enjoy the holiday by going to the cinema or searching for delicious food.
Years ago I loved watching at least three films in the cinema in one day. One of the films had to be an Indonesian film.
However, I am now unable to continue the hobby because of my busy schedule. I have to go to the shooting location everyday.
As I had to reduce my frequent visits to theaters, I purchase DVDs and watch them at home.
I watch many kinds of movies, but I prefer to watch horror movies. I usually buy DVDs of Indonesian movies, and at times, newly released western movies.
I like collecting Indonesian movies.
Every time a new movie is released, I will buy it and display it along with other movie collections at home. I have a preference to watch films with good casts and good directors.
Whenever I need a reference movie for my new role, I will take out a collection and watch it again.
I also like visiting other cities around Jakarta.
Spending my leisure time hanging out in shopping malls is not an option. I avoid going to malls because I need a quiet place — not too crowded. Anywhere is okay as long as it’s not a mall.
When my wife and I want to hunt for good food, we will drive to Bogor, for example, as the nearest destination, or way up to Puncak, or even Bandung. We sometimes go to Bandung just to have something to eat and then drive back to Jakarta the same day.
When I have time off, I just go to Bali. The island has a very cool beach called Blue Point in Uluwatu.
I like mountains and beaches altogether, but I love beaches the most. Maybe, it’s because I cannot stand cold weather. I even had to refuse a job offer because its shooting location was in Bromo, East Java, which is too cold for me.
I love nature so much. When I was a little, I lived in Pantoloan in Palu, Central Sulawesi, where I used to play various games, especially soccer, because we had so much open space. There were not many entertainment spots in the area, but I like it. It’s not like Jakarta.
In my opinion, Jakarta is way too crowded. We only have little space to move.
