The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is set to receive Rp217.86 trillion (US$13.3 billion) in 2026, the largest budget allocation among all ministries and agencies.
he government has announced its indicative budget ceilings for 2026, with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) receiving Rp 217.86 trillion (US$13.3 billion), the largest allocation among 98 ministries and agencies.
According to the 2026 Macroeconomic Framework and Principal Fiscal Policy (KEM-PPKF), of the total budget, Rp7.45 trillion is allocated for administrative and management support, while Rp210.4 trillion ($13.15 billion) is earmarked for national nutrition delivery.
The BGN oversees the free nutritious meal program, President Prabowo Subianto’s main project.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the program will be significantly scaled up next year.
“In 2026, the free meals program will be strengthened to serve all 82.9 million potential beneficiaries through 30,000 nutrition service units,” she said during a House of Representatives plenary session on Monday, as quoted by tempo.co.
Sri Mulyani also said that the program was designed to stimulate economic growth by involving educational institutions, businesses and local communities to ensure its effectiveness and accountability.
In the 2025 state budget, the free meals program was initially allocated Rp 71 trillion, which was later increased by an additional Rp 100 trillion, bringing this year’s total to Rp 171 trillion.
