AKARTA: Actor Zumi Zola is swapping showbiz for politics, in a Jambi district.
The 31-year old bid farewell to his acting career after he was inaugurated regent of Tanjung Jabung Timur on Tuesday, kapanlagi.com reported.
“I will not play in any soap operas or get involved in showbiz,” said the star after the inauguration ceremony.
Zumi, who won the local election in February, is now regent until 2016.
The star, known for playing the good guy in many soap operas and movies, seems to be following in his father’s footsteps, Zukifli Nurdin, who was former governor of Jambi. — JP
