EPOK: A 13-year-old identified as AMN, who is in police custody for allegedly stabbing a classmate, will receive lessons from his homeroom teacher at Beji Police precinct in Depok starting on Wednesday.

The boy, who is in the final year of a state elementary school in Cinere, will sit the national final examinations on May 7.

“We have set aside a place for him and his teacher at the Beji police station. The teacher is welcome anytime,” Depok Police chief Sr. Comr. Mulyadi Kaharni was quoted by tempo.co on Tuesday.

He said that the police provided a playroom for underage detainees, “so they won’t get depressed”. On Feb. 17, AMN allegedly stabbed Syaiful Munif, also 13, over an accusation of stealing a cellular phone. Syaiful suffered eight stab wounds and is still being treated at Fatmawati Hospital, South Jakarta.

Depok municipality spokesperson, Dia Sadiah, said that the administration would make it possible for AMN to continue his studies. “The legal process should not hamper his education,” said Dia.
