T

he management of Djarum Foundation visited Gadjah Mada University, one of the nation’s oldest universities, for a one-day program on Feb. 29 that included a seminar for the Yogyakarta institution’s economics, business and engineering schools.

The management held a dialogue with students who received Djarum scholarships. Other activities included a concert, the planting of trees and the inauguration of an e-Library and an audiovisual hall funded by Djarum Foundation.

The aid shows Djarum Foundation’s concern and commitment to the enhancement of education in Indonesia, given that education is a key to building a better future and to improving the welfare of the Indonesian people, Djarum Foundation’s education service program director Primadi H. Serad said.

“As of 2012, the Djarum Foundation has provided 7,274 scholarships to students at 84 universities throughout Indonesia,” Primadi said.

Meanwhile, the facilities and scholarships provided by Djarum for Gadjah Mada University will help it continue to evolve into an international-standard educational institution.

Other participants in the event included Djarum Foundation president director Victor R Hartono, BCA commissioner Cyrillus Harinowo and Agus Santoso Suwanto, also from Djarum Foundation. Among the musicians performing in the concern were Aning Katamsi, Sierra Sutedjo, Citra Scholastika, Kotak band, Ari Lasso and Nugie.
