AMBI: A number of assets of PT Wirakarya Sakti (PT WKS) were vandalized and a security post and base camp set alight on Friday by residents of Senyerang village, in Jambi’s West Tanjungjabung regency.

Jambi Forestry Office head Hasvia said he received a report from PT WKS regarding the arson attack.

Hasvia said forestry officers would visit the scene for observation.

PT WKS spokesman Ediyanto said that the attack was perpetrated by residents, but was not sure what assets were damaged.

“I have yet to receive detailed information. Today, we will go there to check,” he said.

The conflict between farmers in Senyerang and PT WKS was triggered by a land dispute in 2001 and has continued ever since.
