he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will unlikely get a new building for its new headquarters anytime soon, with the House of Representatives deciding that it would only deliberate the budget for the project in the 2013 budget.
A member of the House of Representatives’ Commission III overseeing legal affairs and laws, human rights and security Eva Kusuma Sundari said that lawmakers had decided to wrap up discussion on the 2012 state budget and had failed to make any decision on the budget proposal for the new KPK building.
“It will be discussed when we convene for the 2013 budget deliberation,” Eva said as quoted by tempo.co.
Lawmakers from nine political parties had not made any decision on the new building, telling the KPK to rent additional space.
The KPK proposed a budget of Rp 225.712 billion (US$24.15 million) for a new headquarters in 2008, saying that its current building on Jl. Rasuna Said in Kuningan, South Jakarta, was overcapacity.
