he city administration says it will raise the height of the separators demarcating the dedicated lane for Transjakarta buses by 50 centimeter later this year to prevent accidents.
“We will prioritize the project on three corridors prone to the accidents,” Jakarta Transportation Agency chief Udar Pristono said after a meeting at Jakarta Police headquarters on Thursday.
The existing 20-centimeter separator was not high enough to prevent cars and motorcycles from entering the dedicated lane, Udar said.
“The project will be done gradually. We cannot do it simultaneously at the three corridors because we don’t have the resources to do so,” he added.
The three lanes that have been fast tracked for the project are Corridor 3, which links Pulogadung, East Jakarta, and Kalideres, West Jakarta; Corridor 5, which links Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta, and Ancol, North Jakarta; and Corridor 6 which serves the Dukuh Atas–Ragunan route in South Jakarta.
