T

he trial of former National Traffic Police Corps commander Insp. Gen. Djoko Susilo on graft charges will start on Tuesday, his lawyer Juniver Girsang has said.

"My client and I are read," Juniver told reporters on Thursday.

Juniver said that Djoko would prove his innocence. "We are confident that he [Djoko] did his duty based on existing regulations for the procurement project," he added, referring to the procurement of driving simulators.

Djoko has been charged with graft and money laundering and faces 10 years' imprisonment if convicted.

The KPK has secured 33 properties allegedly purchased by Djoko in Bali; Jakarta; Depok, West Java; Madiun, East Java; Semarang, Central Java; Subang, West Java; and Yogyakarta; in addition to three gas stations, four cars and six buses worth more than Rp 70 billion (US$7.2 million).

The commission has also dispatched investigators to Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia in search of Djoko's assets.
