ducation and Culture Minister M Nuh said it would be up to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to assess his performance and later on decide whether he would still require his service or not.
'Only the president has the right to dismiss me. This is similar to the case of a student and his lecturer,' Nuh said on Sunday, as reported by Kompas.com.
The comment was a response toward the public pressure on Nuh to be held responsible over the national exams fiasco that had caused a delay in starting exams on time for students in 11 provinces due to printing problems.
He reasoned that the printing problems were an honest mistake and totally unpredictable.
'If mistakes occur during the implementation then a thorough evaluation is a better solution to address the problem,' he said.
Furthermore, Nuh said that he would welcome the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) to conduct an investigation to find out indications of graft and misappropriation if there were any.
He said the set up for this years'national exam was an attempt to avoid cheating.
'Previously, we faced the problem of exam material leaking when we printed the exam materials in each region. Therefore, this year we built a new system and decided to print all materials in a centralized manner but then it turned out that another problem surfaced,' he said.(dic)
