The police have nabbed two men who allegedly robbed ATM customers by using hair oil and toothpicks.

Cilandak Police chief Comr. Sungkono said on Tuesday that the two thieves, identified as Fendi and Ali, made traps in ATMs by lubricating the card slots and putting toothpicks into them to retain ATM cards.

"The perpetrators, who hung around the ATM booths, would pretend to help the card owners and ask for their PINs [personal identification numbers]. They would tell the owner that the card was stuck and advise them to find the nearest bank to ask for help," he told kompas.com, adding that the perpetrators were arrested on Monday in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

He said the two had robbed ATM users in Cilandak and Ciputat, South Jakarta; Palmerah, Kalideres and Cengkareng in West Jakarta; Cibubur and Ciledug in East Jakarta; and Tangerang in Banten.
