Accor launches Pullman Jakarta Indonesia

French hotel chain Accor officially opened its newly renovated Pullman Jakarta Indonesia in Central Jakarta on Thursday.

The upscale luxury hotel designed for business travelers has undergone a US$15 million refurbishment project and is now equipped with rooms for business meetings and seminars, with an array of dining options.

'€œThe Pullman brand was launched only seven years ago but already has 80 hotels in 24 countries,'€ said Accor Asia Pacific chairman and chief operating officer Michael Issenberg.

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari Pangestu, who attended the event, applauded Accor'€™s efforts to expand beyond major cities, providing jobs for people in those areas.

'€œ[The government] supports such efforts by building infrastructure to increase accessibility to places where investors would like to build hotels,'€ said Mari.

Pullman, which claims to be the fastest-growing upscale hotel brand in Indonesia, has established two hotels in Jakarta and one in Bali in the past three years, and expects to operate three more in Bandung and Ciawi, West Java, as well as in Surabaya, East Java.

Pullman Jakarta Indonesia was formerly known as the Nikko Hotel before Accor took over the latter from a Japanese hotel chain in 2012. (dwa)
