gypt's national flag carrier, EgyptAir, will begin serving a non-stop flight route between Cairo, Egypt and Jakarta, Indonesia from April 17, according to the airline's website, after dropping its previous Cairo-Jakarta service via Bangkok, Thailand.
Internet reservations are available for the service, which is set to fly four times weekly, using the wide-body Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The 12-hour flight will be available in both directions on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, according to the airline's website.
EgyptAir will be the first airline to directly connect Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with any African cities.
The Star Alliance member previously began serving the Jakarta-Cairo route via Bangkok on Dec. 22, 2013 using Boeing B777-300s. However, the service only lasted until January this year.
Indonesia's flag carrier Garuda Indonesia stopped its Cairo service in the 1990s.
