T

he American singer Pharrell William's chart topper 'Happy' has inspired many cover versions and now young supporters of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto have used the song's catchy tune to spread the message of a peaceful election campaign.

The young supporters uniting in a group called Sahabat Prabowo (Friends of Prabowo) have created and posted a video of the cover version of the song titled 'Happy-Pharrell Williams (We Are From Sahabat Prabowo, Indonesia)' on Youtube. The video shows different groups of young people dancing and having fun while spreading the message of a peaceful election to the accompaniment of the song.

Sahabat Prabowo chairman Yudha Permana said the video was recorded on the sidelines of a Car Free Day event in Jakarta while some other scenes were shot during events at the Gerindra Party headquarters in South Jakarta.

'Gerindra Party chairman Suhardi took part in the video-making. He was dancing with us,' he said on Saturday as quoted by kompas.com.

Sahabat Prabowo don't only campaign via the virtual world but also through real-world activities.

Yudha said they held various activities, such as fun runs and band parades, during Car Free Day events in several cities, such as Bali, Bandung, Jakarta, and Riau every Sunday. They distributed free fresh milk and souvenirs, such as 'Mas Garuda' pins, for people participating in the events. 'Mas Garuda' symbolizes a leader who is humanitarian, firm and fearless.

Yudha added that Sahabat Prabowo had a number of volunteers who actively joined events to introduce the vision and mission of the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa candidacy.

He said such creative ideas came from the team of volunteers in Jakarta, which amounted to around 200 people. 'None of us are paid for this. We do these things because we are happy and agree with what the candidate pair is fighting for,' said Yudha. (fss/ebf)
