orruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators confiscated several documents in their search at the Makassar PDAM tap water company on Monday in relation to a Rp 38.1 billion (US$3.1 million) graft case at the firm.
Armed police mobile brigade officers guarded the company office into the evening, preventing people from entering the premises while search was being conducted.
KPK earlier declared former Makassar mayor Ilham Arief Sirajuddin and PT Traya Tirta Makassar executive director Hengky Wijaya suspects in the case.
Lawyer Nasiruddin Pasigai, who represents PDAM and Ilham Arief Sirajuddin, said the company had given wide access to KPK investigators to search for evidence and collect documents needed for the case.
Both suspects have been charged under articles 2 and 3 of the Corruption Law, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. (***)
