he Indonesian Police Watch (IWP) Presidium called on the police to arrest those supplying illegal drugs to celebrities, including musician Fariz RM who was arrested for the possession of marijuana, shabu-shabu (crystal meth) and heroin at his home in Bintaro on Tuesday.

'€œWe are suspicious of certain parties supplying drugs and using celebrities as their key market because there is great deal of money in the illegal drug business among celebrities,'€ IWP Presidium chairman Neta S. Pane said here on Wednesday.

He added that the police should go after the syndicate, since many celebrities have been victimized and jailed for consuming the illegal drugs.

Neta said IWP was under the impression that the police were powerless in handling those supplying illegal drugs to celebrities.

The police were still investigating the Fariz case, including the source of the drugs.

Fariz, 56, who was arrested by the police for the possession of illegal drugs in 2007, has been detained in the South Jakarta Police Office for further investigation.

He was arrested when the police entered his residence on Jl. Camar, Sector 4, Bintaro, South Tangerang, early on Tuesday. Fariz was subjected to a urine test was positive for marijuana, shabu-shabu and heroin.

'€œThe most important thing is for the police to seek out information as to where the Jazz musician got the illegal drugs. He will be detained for 20 days during the investigation and it could be extended if need be for a more thorough investigation,'€ head of the narcotics unit at the South Jakarta Police Office Adj. Sr. Comr. Hando Wibowo said as quoted by tribunnews.com. (rms)(+++)
