he North Jakarta office of the city's parks and cemeteries agency is revamping a park on Jl. Bugis in Kebon Bawang subdistrict, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. Office head Yati Sudiharti said on Thursday that dozens of workers were now planting flowers, trees and grass to green the park.
'We're focusing on revamping and maintaining the parks this year as well as pruning trees, so residents will be comfortable visiting the parks,' she said, as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Yati said that maintaining parks in North Jakarta needed extra effort as the climate and topography were different from other parts of the city. Flooding also often threatens the park.
'The type of plants should be differentiated. As the weather is hotter, only particular plants can live here,' she said, adding that she hoped that residents would participate in taking care of the parks.
