February will be a month of musical theater: First, students from SMA 85 and SMA 112 high schools will present A Whole New World on Feb. 5-6 at GOR Bulungan, South Jakarta. Second, SMA 78 high school will stage Erasci, The Musical, on Feb. 19 and 20 at Taman Ismail Marzuki in Jakarta. Both events are presented by The Someday Project, which supports high school theater in Jakarta.

BINUSIANS WIN BIG AT WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP 2015

Binus School Simprug sent 14 of its best students to compete at the World Scholar's Cup (WSC) in the US. The international academic team program, with students from over 40 countries participating, focuses on bringing students from different cultures together to discuss issues and ideas relevant to today and the future. The BINUS students sparred in every competition area, bringing home medals in each subject: individual and team debates, writing, and the scholar's bowl and challenge. 'I enjoyed the experience and I am totally interested in participating in next year's WSC competition. I think this is a very good activity for students, because we can also train ourselves to be good speakers,' says Binus Simprug student Ziankha, who bagged medals as her school's top scorer, as well as for individual debate and writing.

HIGHSCOPE INDONESIA
FILM FESTIVAL (HiFFest) 2015

Where: BlackBox Theatre, HighScope School

Back for a 10th year, HiFFest featured a theme of 'Past ' Lesson ' Action, Learn the Lesson is the Key'. Presented by the HighScope TB. Simatupang Middle School Student Council, HiFFest presented a host of short fi lms made by students. Before making their 10-minute fi lms, participants completed a movie-making workshop in November, which was followed by about a month of shooting. Twelve fi lms went to the jury and seven were screened during the festival on Awards Day on Dec. 5.
