Nails and other sharp objects are frequently scattered on streets by people looking to profit from punctured tires.
Head of law enforcement with the Jakarta Police's traffic division Adj. Sr. Comr. Budiyanto said that there were still several areas where nail traps are often scattered, including Jl. Suryopranoto, Jl.Juanda, Jl. Medan Merdeka Utara and Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat in Central Jakarta.
The practice, he emphasized, was also still widespread in Cengkareng and Tomang Slipi in West Jakarta as well as along Gatot Subroto in South Jakarta and Jl. DI Panjaitan in East Jakarta.
