T

he Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) has stressed that an investigative audit shows that the procurement of land in West Jakarta from the Sumber Waras Foundation by the Jakarta city administration in 2014 caused potential state losses of Rp 199 billion (US$15.21 million).

“Our data is correct as we obtained facts from the field. It is not just words,” the head of BPK’s directorate for state finance evaluation and development plan, Bahtiar Arif, announced at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday as reported by tribunnews.com.

He was responding to a claim by Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama that the BPK’s report on the land procurement was faulty.

“BPK’s report cheated me, I say. I wrote a letter to the BPK ethics council but got no response. Efdinal [former BPK Jakarta head] was dismissed,” Ahok said on Wednesday. Ahok was questioned for 12 hours by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators on Tuesday.

Bahtiar said the BPK did two audits; one in 2014 and another in 2015. The latter was an investigative audit as requested by the KPK to learn more about its 2014 findings.

He confirmed that in 2014 the BPK discovered potential state losses totaling Rp 199 billion caused by the procurement of 3.6 hectares of land because the city administration had paid Rp 755.69 billion for the land, whereas the taxable value of property (NJOP) was only Rp 564.35 billion.

He said that based on the investigative audit, the BPK suggested that the Jakarta administration cancel the purchase. “If it cannot be canceled, the city administration should recover the state losses by selling the land for at least the same price,” Bahtiar added.

He stressed that the investigative audit was done professionally and according to the law. (bbn)
