mid the ongoing territorial disputes in the South China Sea (SCS) between several Southeast Asian nations and China, ASEAN and China will hold a series of events to celebrate the  25 years of their partnership, culminating in a summit on Sept. 7 in Vientiane, Laos.

Foreign Ministry ASEAN dialogue partners and inter-regional cooperation director Derry Aman said the summit would produce a number of documents to strengthen ties between the regional bloc and the East Asian country.

"Among those still being negotiated are a joint declaration on the ASEAN-China 25 years commemorative summit, which encompasses all of our cooperation thus far and into the future," Derry said.

He said a joint statement on capacity production agreement would also be signed at the gathering, which will be a side event to the annual ASEAN Leaders Summit.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the ASEAN-China center in Beijing, China, would be revised to help coordinate efforts to increase cooperation, especially that related to innovation, in the hope that the center could become the gateway of technology transfers related to trade, investment and tourism, Derry added.
