It was a rare sight to see ex-State Intelligence Agency (BIN) chief A. M. Hendropriyono and ex-National Police Chief Sutanto grace the trading floor, accompanied by Industry Minister Saleh Husin and Pertamina president director Dwi Sutjipto.
With such high-profile figures witnessing the listing ceremony, Sillo Maritime’s shares (SHIP) skyrocketed by 21 percent during the opening session from Rp 140 (1 US cent) per share to Rp 168. The company finished its first day of trading with a substantial 68-percent increase from its initial value to Rp 236.
Little is known about Sillo Maritime president director Edi Yosfi, except that the National Mandate Party (PAN) politician worked with Hendropriyono in Adiperkasa Citra Esemka, a company that politically marketed the car Esemka and brought Joko "Jokowi" Widodo into fame.
Established in 1989, Sillo Maritime manages oil and gas shipments as its main core business. It operates eight tankers and will work with 114 upcoming China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) vessels, which are currently in a dry-docking process that is set to be completed in July, two months quicker than expected.
"The contract from the CNOOC will start in November this year until 2023. We are pursuing the next contract worth US$4 million in 2017," Sillo Maritime operational director Sumanto Hartanto told thejakartapost.com on Thursday in Jakarta. (ags)
