elatives of the late Wayan Mirna Salihin were emotional as prosecutors played a CCTV recording during the trial of Jessica Kumala Wongso, who is accused of the premeditated murder of Mirna, at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday.

Mirna’s twin sister Made Sendy Salihin and Mirna’s husband Arief Soemarko appeared to cry as prosecutors played the video.

Mirna died on her way to hospital after she, Jessica and another friend, Hani, met on Jan. 6 at Olivier café in Grand Indonesia mall, Central Jakarta, where Mirna drank a Vietnamese iced coffee that was tainted with cyanide.

Mirna’s father, Darmawan, was outraged when Jessica appeared in the footage to do nothing to help Mirna, who convulsed and foamed at the mouth. In the footage, Jessica rubbed her hands continuously and kept her distance from the crowd of people who tried to assist Mirna.

Darmawan shouted loudly in the court, without judges’ intervention.

Hani, who testified before the court as a witness, said she did not observe closely what Jessica was doing at the café. “I only focused on helping Mirna. I did not know what Jessica had done at Olivier café,” Hani said.

Mirna’s relatives continued to clamor as a prosecutor claimed that Jessica had lied about the time of her arrival at the café.

Jessica sent a message at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 6 in a WhatsApp group consisting of Mirna, Hani and another woman named Vera, saying she was still on the way to Grand Indonesia from her house in Sunter, North Jakarta. However, based on CCTV, Jessica arrived at the café at 3:30 p.m. (bbn)
