fter about three hours of heavy rain several parts of the capital experienced flooded streets Friday night. Among the worst spots was near the Gandaria City mall in South Jakarta, where traffic was heavily congested and one of the underpasses was closed because of floodwaters, according to the police.

The Jakarta Police’s Traffic Management Control (TMC) reported on its Twitter account @TMCPoldaMetro several spots experiencing flooding.

At 9:31 p.m. the account said that sedans should not use the street in front of the Gandaria City mall because of the inundation.

At 9:50 p.m., it reported: "Flood on Jl. Kedoya Raya, West Jakarta. Please be careful when passing."

At about the same time, the TMC received reports from the public about flooding on Jl. M Kahfi in Ciganjur, South Jakarta, Jl. Boulevard Kelapa Gading in Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta and on Jl. S. Parman near Tarumanagara University in West Jakarta.

At about 10 p.m. it reported a felled tree on Jl. Talang Betutu in Central Jakarta.

Flooding was also recorded in front of Atma Jaya University in Semanggi, Central Jakarta, Jl. Panjang in West Jakarta, Jl. Fatmawati in South Jakarta, and in Senayan near Gerbang Pemuda. (evi)
