AKARTA: State-controlled railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is confident that the construction of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport railway line will conclude in time for the planned launch of operations next year.
KAI president director Edi Sukmoro said the company had not seen any obstacles since construction work began in April this year, despite previous disputes over land procurement. The Supreme Court has decided in favor of KAI on the procurement of land in Batuceper, Tangerang, Banten, in a ruling that was challenged by locals.
“[Procurement of] the rolling stock will certainly be done and signed by the end of this year,” Edi said at the State-Owned Enterprise Ministry on Tuesday.
The planned line will run from Manggarai Station in East Jakarta via Sudirman Station in Central Jakarta and Batuceper Station to the airport. The whole track will span 37.6 kilometers. — JP
