even soccer fans were left wounded after allegedly being attacked by supporters of Jakarta soccer club Persija, dubbed Jakmania, on Saturday when the soccer team played against Bandung soccer club Persib in Surakarta, Central Java, on Saturday.
“We are neither supporters of Persija nor Persib. We just wanted to watch the game,” said Jarot Hermawan, a friend of a victim, who was treated at Brayat Minulya Hospital in Surakarta on Saturday.
Surakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Ahmad Lutfi said the clash involved supporters of Persija, as no Persib supporters attended the match.
Ahmad explained that it was a home game for Persija in which only the team’s supporters were allowed to attend. (bbn)
