A

teenager, Desi Wulandari, died after falling from the ninth floor of Akasia Tower in Kalibata City in South Jakarta on Wednesday at 10:45 p.m., the police reported Thursday.

The Pancoran Police are investigating the case to discover the cause of the 19-year-old's fall. Pancoran Police chief Comr. Aswin said he had received information that the girl was a model, but he could not confirm the information.

“I don’t know what kind of model she was, a model for men or something else, but she had pictures of her taken in foreign countries,” he said.

Aswin said Desi had rented the apartment for a week and paid Rp 400,000 (US$30) daily. “We have questioned three people, a woman and a man living in the same apartment, and the security guard,” he said as quoted by Warta Kota.

The police have contacted the victim’s family in Kramatjati in East Jakarta.

Desi’s mother, Tri Mulyani, said Desi had called at her at 9 p.m. and told her that she had been pushed by a friend and she had fallen over. Tri said she had told her to come home. (evi)
