he Environment and Forestry Ministry has launched a platform that allows companies to file their environment-related reports online rather than sending a representative to the ministry’s offices.
Launched on Friday, the electronic environment reporting system does away with the hassle of making environment-related reports in person, including the need to wait in line at the ministry’s offices several times a year.
“In the past, it was very hard to find a parking space at this office,” said Karliansyah, the ministry’s director general of environmental damage and pollution.
“Now, companies can do the reporting by simply uploading [documents],” he added during the launch of the platform.
Karliansyah said companies normally reported on their activities every three months, while in total there were around 25,000 companies that needed to file such reports.
Documents that can be reported through the platform include the environmental management scheme and environmental monitoring scheme (UKL-UPL) and the environmental impact analysis (Amdal).
Law No. 32/2009 on Environmental Protection requires a company to file reports about its environmental management scheme and activities. (jun)
