Police have arrested a couple in Bogor, West Java, for allegedly torturing their three-year-old toddler to death.
The 27-year-old male suspect, identified as AA, and a his wife, SP, 25, were arrested at their home in Tlajung Udik village, Gunung Putri, on Tuesday.
According to police investigators, the suspects have admitted to the crime, saying they had felt upset with the child. AA allegedly slapped the toddler on the head and pinched him in the thigh, while his wife beat the child with a clothes hanger.
Bogor Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Andi M. Dicky was quoted by Warta Kota as saying that the child had sustained injuries to the head and all over the body. The toddler died a day after being admitted to the Sentra Media Hospital in Cibinong.
AA and SP remain in police detention. (dmr)
