View all search resultsalatiga is the second most prone region in Central Java to violations and conflict in the upcoming simultaneous regional elections on Feb. 15, the Central Java Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) reported on Tuesday.
“In Salatiga, of 386 TPS [polling stations], 138 of them are considered vulnerable; that's 36 percent. Brebes regency is in first place with 52 percent vulnerable TPS,” said coordinator of prevention and inter-institution relations at Bawaslu Central Java, Teguh Purnomo.
The potential violations may occur in the form of accuracy of voter data, logistics, money politics, involvement of government officials or elections supervisory committees (Panwaslu).
“We hope to figure out the vulnerability level, so we can make early prevention preparations,” said Teguh.

Panwaslu Salatiga head Arsyad Wahyudi confirmed these findings, saying that necessary precautions were needed.
“In previous elections, almost all districts across Salatiga were prone to violations and conflict. We will beef up the monitoring at TPS a few days before logistics distribution through the voting process,” Arsyad said.
Separately, the Salatiga Police held a declaration of a peaceful election process, which was attended by the General Elections Commissions (KPU), Panwaslu, two candidate pairs and supporting parties.
“Candidate pairs and their supporters must commit to maintaining peace,” Salatiga Police chief Adj. Comr. Happy Perdana Yudianto said.
The declaration was marked with the reading of a peace statement by two candidate pairs – Yuliyanto-Muh Haris and Agus Rudianto-Dance Ishak Palit. (trw)
