eavy rainfall and intense winds over the past week have hampered the distribution of election material across several areas in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

“What we are really worried about is the distribution of logistics from Larantuka, the capital of East Flores regency, to Adonara and Solor. We can only reach the two islands by sea and the weather is currently very difficult,” General Elections Commission (KPU) East Nusa Tenggara chairman Maryanti Luturmas told journalists on Thursday.

She said the KPU had almost completed organizing material for two regencies, East Flores and Lembata, and the city of Kupang. The material includes ballot papers, drop boxes, punching tools and other things that will be used on election day. All of the material will be distributed to polling stations in the three areas.

Maryanti said election material for the East Flores and Lembata regencies would be distributed three days before voting day. For Kupang, the material will be sent the day beforehand.

She said the KPU East Flores had guaranteed that the election material for Adonara and Solor could be distributed on time.

“In Adonara, a chartered boat is ready to carry election material to six districts, namely Central Adonara, East Adonara, Ile Boleng, Klubagolit, Witihama and Wotamuluado. In Solor, the material will be sent to East Solor, South Solor and West Solor,” said Maryanti. (ebf)
