taff of the regional General Elections Commissions (KPU) and Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) in three regencies in Jambi holding elections on Feb. 15 have been overwhelmed by the amount of campaign signs they have had to clear up during the cooling-off period before polling day.
The cooling-off period is set from Feb. 12 to 14 but as of Monday many campaign banners and billboards were still to be seen in the regencies, namely Tebo, Muarojambi and Sarolangun.
“We continue to take the signs down because it is our responsibility,” KPU Tebo head Basri said on Monday.
He added that they would ask local Public Order officers (Satpol PP) to help clear the signs.
“We call on the campaign teams of the candidates to also help clear the signs, especially those at their bases,” KPU Sarolangun member Asriadi said.

Separately, Panwaslu Muarojambi head Hamdi Aziz said that the committee had been working hard to ensure there would be no more campaign signs left up by polling day. (bbs)
