inance Minister Sri Mulyani highlighted on Saturday that the proudest moment she had for nearly a year serving as a minister was to see her subordinates did their jobs with strong dedication for the benefits of the country.
“I am really proud to know that my team was really dedicated to do their jobs. For instance, how the custom and excise officials arrested drug smugglers. How my team collect taxes, especially on the last days of the tax amnesty period,” she said during the 4th Congress of Indonesia Diaspora 2017.

Indonesia completed in March a nine-month tax ammnsty program, a signature fiscal policy under the President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's administration aimed at boosting tax revenue amid a weakening global economy.
Sri Mulyani acknowledged that strong work commitment from all the ministry's 72,000 employees was vital to ensure that it achieves tax revenue target to support development.
Indonesia’s economic condition today has become a lot better compared to 10 years ago. At present, the country could collect Rp 1.75 quadrillion in taxes. From these, it could disburse Rp 400 trillion for education and Rp 105 trillion for health care, she said.
“These kind of things make us sure that we are building this country’s foundation on the right way,” she said. (hwa)
