he ticket price for Jakarta’s first MRT may be set at Rp 17,000, according to an official from PT MRT Jakarta.
PT MRT Jakarta’s finance and administration director Tuhiyat said the Jakarta administration had the authority to determine the tariff.
However, he said, the company had calculated the possible price based on the total construction costs and a profit margin of 10 percent.
Nonetheless, the expected price has yet to include the subsidy set to be given by the Jakarta administration through the Public Service Obligation (PSO) scheme.
“It depends how much the subsidy will be. For instance, for the longest trips, passengers may be required to pay Rp 10,000. It means the administration must add Rp 7,000. That is the count,” said Tuhiyat on Wednesay as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
On Wednesday. PT MRT Jakarta held a press conference, in which it said the construction of the MRT was on track, reaching 74.9 percent completion by the end of June.
Hence, it would likely begin operations in accordance with target of March 2019.
