ransjakarta is set to provide 100 luxury buses, called Royaltrans, in an effort to lure the city’s high-income people into using its services to ease traffic congestion.
The buses, worth Rp 1.1 billion (US$82,415.5) each, are said to be outfitted with TVs, USB ports and reclining seats.
Transjakarta spokesman Wibowo said each bus would be able to accommodate 30 passengers.
“Royaltrans will be a feeder bus that will serve people who live in residential areas,” Wibowo said.
However, Transjakarta has yet to determine the residential areas that it will serve or the fares.
Royaltrans is expected to operate at the end of the year.
Transjakarta only has two prototypes of Royaltrans, one of which was displayed at the Transportation Ministry on Thursday. (syl)
