he Tangerang administration has put electronic information tags on 200 trees in parks throughout the city to record data about them.
The parks department head of the Tangerang Tourism and Parks Agency, Tihar Sopian, said the tags were in the form of barcodes that could be scanned using a QR Scanner application.
People who scan the barcodes will get information about the Latin name of the tree, its age and more, Tihar said.
“The program aims to educate,” he said on Tuesday.
The tags provide people with information about the trees in the hope that they will take good care of them.
The system also provides information to the agency to help with maintaining the trees.
“If we know the age of the tree, we can decide when we have to cut it down to prevent an accident. Then we can replant another tree,” Tihar said as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com. (wnd)
