resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono are scheduled to officially open the 17.6-kilometer Bawen-Salatiga toll road in Central Java on Monday.
The toll road has been unofficially open, free of charge, since June 18 and since Friday has been officially operated based on the Public Works and Housing Ministerial Decree No 718/KPTS/M/2017.
Head of Toll Road Authority Agency Herry Trisaputra Zuna said the toll road was initially scheduled to be operated in early September, but was delayed because a bridge feasibility test by the Bridge and Road Tunnel Safety Commission (KKJTI) was required.

The Bawen-Salatiga toll road is a section of the 72.64 kilometer Semarang-Surakarta toll road managed by PT Trans Marga Jateng, which is a consortium of state-owned toll operator Jasa Marga (73.9 percent), PT Astratel Nusantara or Astra Infra (25 percent) and PT Sarana Pembangunan Java Tengah.
The other sections of the Semarang-Surakarta toll road include Semarang-Ungaran that has been in operation since September, 2011 and the Ungaran-Bawen toll road that has been open since April, 2014.
Currently, PT Trans Marga Jateng is constructing two other toll road sections: Salatiga-Boyolali and Boyolali-Solo with a length of 32.20 kilometers. (bbn)
