Joachim, the company’s former president director and Yuliana, a former claims manager, stand accused of violating Law No. 8/1999 on consumer protection for allegedly breaching contracts with two customers by refusing to reimburse them for their medical expenses and instead setting additional requirements for the two to comply with in order to receive payouts.
“We are scheduled to question Yuliana on Oct. 4, while the president director will be questioned next week,” Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The Police have also communicated with the Immigration Office to impose travel bans on the pair, which took effect on Sept. 28, Argo said.
“The travel restriction lasts for 20 days. This is necessary to aid our investigation,” Argo said.
The case is the country’s first criminal case implicating an insurance company. (fac)
