T

he Bogor Regency Prosecutor’s Office destroyed various types of evidence on Thursday from crime cases that had received final and legally binding rulings from the Cibinong District Court.

Prosecutor’s Office head Bambang Hartarto said the destroyed evidence included various types of drugs and home-assembled firearms.

The evidence consisted of 2,600 kilograms of marijuana, 477 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 1,341 prescription-only psychotropic pills, 20 ecstasy pills, 1,742 Excimer pills (a type of tranquilizer), 0.8 g of putaw (low-grade heroin), hundreds of counterfeit banknotes and 14 home-assembled firearms.

Bambang said the evidence was from crimes committed from 2015 to this year. Although the evidence had been destroyed, it was still possible for law authorities to investigate the cases further as they had kept samples of the evidence, he added.

Bambang said an abundance of confiscated evidence from drug-related crimes showed drug cases in the Bogor regency has been increasing, both in terms of the number of cases and the amount of drugs distributed.

“Therefore, we are cooperating with Bogor Police and the Bogor chapter of the National Narcotics Agency [BNN] to reduce the distribution of narcotics in the regency as much as possible,” said Bambang. (ebf)
