A

concrete segment of the MRT rail track on Jl. Wijaya II, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta fell on Friday night during its installation, injuring a motorcyclist who was passing underneath.

The 3-ton concrete piece was lifted with a crane truck to be installed at 9 p.m. The crane later lost balance and the concrete slipped and hit the truck before falling to the ground and hitting Samsudin, who was riding his motorcycle.

The resident of Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, was later rushed to nearby Pertamina Hospital. He reportedly suffered minor injuries.

“The road section around the construction area was already closed before the installation,” said Tubagus Hikmatullah, corporate secretary of PT MRT Jakarta, the developer of the MRT track.

He said the company took responsibility for the victim's medication and the damage to the motorcycle.
